Days 9 & 10

The initial round is completed - I have gone through all the drawers, shelves, cabinets, and boxes. I lost count of the number of garbage/recycling bags we took away during the past 10 days, and I have no idea of how many clothe items I was able to get rid of other than "too many". My wardrobe, although with a lot more space, still looks full -  I continue to own a lot more clothes than what would be strictly "necessary" to get by, but I know I use frequently the items that are there.

This phase of the challenge gets more tricky: getting rid of the items I do wear. Nonetheless, I have been able to get rid of 2 to 3 items per day including wardrobe and others. My strategy was to start to eliminate things that can be seen as "duplicates" and keep the one I prefer. Following this strategy I got rid of a few more pairs of identical tights, a wool jumper, a fleece jumper, a pijama, a long winter coat, and a few makeup items.

At the moment, considering that the time I now need to go through the things is quite less, I feel the need to broaden the strategy from the decluttering to the organising as well (and here is where my threshold OCD behaviours start to show). My plan for the weekend, besides going through the storage rooms in the house, includes re-organizing all the books in my bookshelves by color. I think it will look great! Looking forward for that!

By the way, there are somethings that really make me happy and provide me a sense of calm, relaxation, and overall wellness - books are in this category and as such they are not considered "things" for this challenge (at least most of them).
